View original imageLee Jang-woo, Mayor of Daejeon, attended the 35th anniversary ceremony of the sister city relationship held at Seattle City Hall, USA, on the 25th (local time), and announced a joint declaration.
The two cities agreed to further expand practical exchanges in various fields such as economy, science, culture, and festivals, and to cooperate in the World Economic Science Cities Alliance, which will be founded in Daejeon in September.
After the ceremony, a business networking session took place between Daejeon's economic delegation and Seattle's corporate and administrative officials.
Mayor Lee introduced advanced industry companies from Daejeon in the fields of information and communication, autonomous driving, and semiconductor materials to Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, and requested continuous corporate exchanges for entry into the U.S. market.
Mayor Lee Jang-woo said, “We ask for great interest and participation in Daejeon's World Economic Science Cities Alliance,” adding, “We hope that the alliance will form a network involving economy, science, and universities, and that the city of Seattle will collaborate together.”
He continued, “Like the Korea-U.S. alliance, the relationship between Daejeon and Seattle is important,” emphasizing, “We hope the sister city relationship will advance to the next level with expanded exchanges in industry, sports, universities, and research institutions.”
