Chairman Kim made these remarks on the 25th during a plenary session of the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee, responding to a question from Park Chung-kwon, a member of the People Power Party, who asked, "What concerns arise if the KCC becomes a single-member system?"
The Democratic Party has raised issues regarding the current two-member system of the KCC and announced plans to pursue impeachment against Chairman Kim.
Rep. Park said, "If the KCC becomes a single-member system, it will also be difficult to appoint successors to the public broadcasting directors whose terms expire in two months," adding, "If even the three broadcasting laws pass, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions' media union's scenario to seize control of public broadcasting will be completed."
