Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has passed a new ordinance to reduce plastic usage and transition to a circular economy society.
The "Sinan-gun Plastic Zero Promotion Ordinance," which was primarily proposed by Assemblyman Park Yong-chan, passed the Administrative Welfare Committee on the 25th.
This ordinance aims to suppress waste generation and promote circular use in relation to the enforcement of the "Act on the Promotion of Transition to a Circular Economy Society."
In particular, Sinan-gun intends to reduce plastic waste generation and transition to a sustainable circular economy society through the production and distribution of eco-friendly biodegradable plastic products by promoting Plastic Zero.
The ordinance stipulates the responsibilities of the county governor, businesses, and residents regarding the promotion of Plastic Zero in Sinan-gun, and includes provisions for fostering a circular economy culture and establishing execution plans.
Through this, administrative and financial support measures have also been prepared to promote related projects and strengthen competitiveness.
County Governor Park Woo-ryang emphasized, "The approval of this ordinance will be an opportunity for Sinan-gun to be reborn as a circular economy city," adding, "In a situation where plastic-related regulations are being strengthened worldwide, the distribution and utilization of eco-friendly biodegradable plastics are essential."
