Gwanak-gu Takes Steps Toward Realizing a 'Sustainable Development City'
New Appointment of Committee Comprising Experts in Economy, Society, Environment, and Governance
Full Effort to Establish 'Sustainable Development City Gwanak' by Formulating Basic Strategies and Implementation Plans for Sustainable Development
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) is taking meaningful steps to realize a "Sustainable Development City Gwanak" to lead environmental conservation for future generations and improve the quality of life for its residents.
The district has formed a committee of various experts in economics, society, environment, and collaborative governance to establish a basic sustainable development strategy and has commenced a service project.
On the 24th, to fulfill the obligations of local governments as stipulated in the "Basic Act on Sustainable Development," a collaborative governance body was established, consisting of 13 district council members and external experts along with 9 public officials, and a kickoff meeting for the sustainable development strategy service project was held.
This project aims to pursue "sustainability" so that current and future generations can coexist, reflecting the value of "sustainability" throughout the district administration by establishing a 20-year basic strategy and a 5-year implementation plan.
▲The goal is to develop a comprehensive plan covering various areas including the regional characteristics encompassing Gwanaksan Mountain and Byeolbitnaerin Stream, strengthening Gwanak S Valley and local neighborhood commercial districts, welfare for socially vulnerable groups, and carbon neutrality practices for environmental protection.
In particular, the service project will include measures to ensure concrete, feasible, and effective outcomes that residents can experience, as well as ways to strengthen public-private cooperation systems with local startups, social enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises, and small business owners.
Additionally, by reflecting Gwanak-gu’s regional characteristics in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN and the nation, it is expected to establish realistic and achievable plans for the current and future development of Gwanak-gu.
