Fair Trade Commission appoints Nam Dong-il, Director of Competition Policy Bureau, as Secretary-General
Yuk Sung-kwon, Current Secretary-General, Appointed as Survey Director
The Fair Trade Commission announced on the 24th that it has newly appointed Nam Dong-il, Director of the Competition Policy Bureau, as the new Secretary-General.
Secretary-General Nam passed the 2nd Local Civil Service Examination and entered public service in 1997. He has served as Director of the Competition Policy Bureau, Director of the Consumer Policy Bureau, and spokesperson. He has demonstrated outstanding expertise in key policy areas of the Fair Trade Commission and has actively carried out livelihood policies for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, including recently promoting the enactment of the Dispute Mediation Integration Act for prompt relief in fair trade disputes.
The Fair Trade Commission evaluated, "Secretary-General Nam is well-suited for the Secretary-General position, which requires essential internal and external communication capabilities, as he also has experience working as spokesperson, planning and finance officer, and head of operations support."
The Fair Trade Commission also newly appointed Yuk Sung-kwon, the current Secretary-General, as Director of Investigation Management. Director Yuk passed the 39th Administrative Civil Service Examination and entered public service in 1996. He has served as Secretary-General, Director of the Market Surveillance Bureau, and Director of the Corporate Group Bureau.
While serving as Director of the Market Surveillance Bureau, Director Yuk sanctioned false, exaggerated, and deceptive advertising related to the 5G service speeds of the three major mobile carriers. During his tenure as Director of the Corporate Group Bureau, he successfully handled major Fair Trade Commission cases such as unfair support practices by Samsung's in-house catering affiliate Samsung Welstory and unfair support practices by Harim's affiliates.

The Fair Trade Commission stated, "Director Yuk will contribute to enhancing trust in the Fair Trade Commission's case handling by effectively fulfilling the role of Director of Investigation Management, overseeing all cases based on his legal expertise and extensive experience in case departments."
