Heavy Rain Forecast up to 150mm This Weekend in Gwangju and Jeonnam
On the 22nd and 23rd, due to the influence of a stationary front, heavy rain of up to 150mm or more is expected in Gwangju and Jeonnam.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 21st, the expected rainfall in Gwangju and Jeonnam from early dawn on the 22nd until the morning of the 23rd is 50 to 100mm. In some areas (coastal Jeonnam), there may be heavy rain exceeding 150mm.
As of the 22nd, a preliminary heavy rain advisory has been issued for 22 cities and counties in Gwangju and Jeonnam, with some places experiencing very heavy rain of around 30 to 50mm per hour, so caution is required to prevent various safety accidents.
The stationary front is expected to remain subdued for a while but will move northward to the southern regions around the 27th to 28th.
From the afternoon of the 23rd, when the monsoon rain ceases, the daytime high temperature is forecast to rise to around 30 degrees Celsius with high humidity, making it sultry.

A meteorological official said, "Due to the monsoon rain over the weekend, valley waters may suddenly swell, and there is a risk of being trapped when using riverside walking paths or underground passages," urging, "Special caution is needed for flooding in low-lying areas and rapid currents from river overflows."
