Boryeong City Cracks Down on Origin Labeling Ahead of Beach Opening
On the 21st, Boryeong City in Chungnam announced that it will conduct a special inspection on origin labeling around Daecheon Beach.
This inspection will take place from the 24th to the 28th ahead of the beach opening, aiming to establish transparent distribution order for sashimi-grade and ready-to-eat seafood.
The city will monitor the condition of origin labels on displayed items, their external appearance, and whether origin labeling boards are present at traditional markets and seafood wholesale and retail stores.
If the origin is falsely labeled, a prison sentence of up to 7 years or a fine of up to 100 million won will be imposed, and if the origin is not labeled, a fine ranging from 50,000 won to 10 million won will be imposed.
