UK Defense Economic Delegation Explores Naval Vessel Project Cooperation with HD Hyundai

View original imageOn the 18th, a British defense industry economic delegation visited the HD Hyundai Global R&D Center (GRC) to assess HD Hyundai's shipbuilding capabilities and explore cooperation opportunities.
The British economic delegation consisted of over 30 members, including about 10 senior officials from the UK Defence and Security Exports (UKDSE) under the UK government's Department for International Trade, who came to Korea to attend the Korea-UK Defense and Military Joint Committee, as well as around 20 executives from leading British defense companies.
The delegation included more than 20 top executives from Europe's largest defense companies such as the UK-based BAE Systems, multinational corporations Thales UK, Atlas UK, and Leonardo UK, all of which are global top-tier defense firms.
On the day of the visit, the delegation toured the GRC for approximately two hours. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries introduced its shipbuilding capabilities and advanced technologies and discussed potential bilateral cooperation plans.
Additionally, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries provided a briefing on its digital transformation (DT) sector beyond the shipbuilding business to the economic delegation.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is leading K-ship exports. Earlier that morning at its Ulsan headquarters, it held the launching ceremony of the 3,200-ton Philippine patrol ship 'Miguel Malvar,' the first ship of its class, attended by the Philippine Minister of National Defense and other senior military officials. In April, it also signed a local joint production contract worth 640.6 billion KRW with the Peruvian Navy.
In April, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries invited government officials from nine countries worldwide to the signing ceremony for the delivery of the 3,000-ton submarine Shin Chae-ho, showcasing the excellence of K-ships such as submarines, Aegis destroyers, and frigates.
