Sacheon City to Provide Administrative Support for Aerospace Campus Establishment
The Aerospace Campus will open in Sacheon, Gyeongnam, which has established itself as the aerospace capital of South Korea, in March next year. Sacheon City and Changwon National University announced on the 18th that they had signed a business agreement regarding the establishment of the Changwon National University Sacheon Aerospace Campus in the mayor's office on the 6th floor of Sacheon City Hall.
On this day, the two institutions confirmed their joint commitment to establishing the Aerospace Campus and agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation by seeking ways to generate synergy effects through the campus.

View original imageIn particular, Changwon National University is planning to establish a specialized college with a capacity of 600 students and will also set up the Aerospace Campus in the Sacheon area, while the city will provide maximum administrative support for the successful establishment of the campus.
With the signing of this agreement, the opening of the Changwon National University Sacheon Aerospace Campus in March next year is expected to gain further momentum. Changwon National University will open a temporary campus in the industrial complex type at the Complex Culture Center within Sacheon City's Second General Industrial Complex in March next year.
The main campus is scheduled to be built on a site of 53,083 square meters in Tongyang-ri, Yonghyeon-myeon, Sacheon City, with the goal of opening in December 2027. Changwon National University plans to recruit 15 freshmen for 2025 through early admissions this year, and gradually increase the undergraduate quota to 30 in 2026 and 40 by 2030.
The city plans to provide the main campus site in accordance with the ordinance on attracting and supporting public institutions and will permit the free use of the temporary campus site.
President Park Minwon said, "In order for Sacheon's Aerospace Campus to grow into a university with global competitiveness, active interest and support from Sacheon City are essential," requesting the city's proactive support.
Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "The Aerospace Campus, along with the Aerospace Agency, is expected to play a key role as a central institution in the aerospace complex city and in South Korea's leap to become one of the global top five in aerospace."
