Sim Cheol, Gwangju City Councilor, "Concerns Over Setbacks in Urban Railway Line 2 Project"
Shim Cheol, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Council, pointed out concerns about potential setbacks in the Gwangju Urban Railway Line 2 project.
On the 17th, at the Budget and Accounts Committee meeting for the 2023 fiscal year settlement of Gwangju City, Councilor Shim stated, "Since Gwangju City has failed to match the national funding for the Urban Railway Line 2 construction project, actual completion is expected to face delays."
According to the 2023 fiscal year settlement report submitted by Gwangju City to the City Council, regarding the construction costs of Urban Railway Line 2, Gwangju City did not allocate city funds in 2022, resulting in a total of 252.2 billion KRW in national funds either not received or returned.
Councilor Shim said, "Due to the lack of secured project funds, construction setbacks are occurring, which will lead to an extension of the construction period," adding, "An extension of the construction period increases inconvenience for citizens."
