A man who fell from an apartment in Busan collided with another man exiting the apartment entrance, resulting in the deaths of both individuals.
On the 17th, Yonhap News reported that around 7 a.m. on the 15th, Mr. A (in his 50s) fell from an apartment near the entrance in Sasang-gu, Busan, and struck Mr. B (in his 80s). Mr. B, who was seriously injured in the accident, was transported to a hospital but ultimately passed away on the afternoon of the 16th while receiving treatment.
It is known that Mr. A had been struggling with chronic illness and other difficulties. No suicide note was found at the scene. Since the perpetrator Mr. A also died, the police plan to handle the case as "no prosecution" regarding Mr. B’s death.
The family of Mr. B appealed, saying, "We heard that the case will be closed without prosecution because the perpetrator died," and added, "From the family's perspective, it is very unfair that no one is held responsible for our father's death." In response, the police are reviewing applications for victim protection and support.
The police stated, "We believe that Mr. A did not intentionally strike Mr. B," and added, "We are investigating the detailed circumstances of the accident by interviewing witnesses and others."
