Busan Transportation Corporation Strives for Zero Serious Accidents
Management, Employees, and Experts Hold Safety and Health Management Committee Meeting
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) held the 'Safety and Health Management Committee' on the 13th to strengthen the safety and health management system of the Busan Urban Railway.
The Safety and Health Management Committee is the highest deliberation and advisory body in the field of safety and health management of the corporation, with participation from the corporation's executives, external safety experts, labor union, and employee representatives.
At the meeting, 12 participants including Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, Choi Jeongsik, Chairman of the Busan Transportation Corporation Labor Union, safety and health team leaders from subsidiaries, and external experts, held in-depth discussions and provided advice on ways to create a safer workplace, reaffirming their commitment to 'ZERO major accidents'.
Previously, the corporation conducted joint labor-management 'occupational safety and health implementation inspections' at 17 field offices, taking preemptive measures against hazardous and risky factors and identifying and spreading best practices as part of their workplace inspections.
In line with this, the corporation has improved its manual in preparation for major industrial accidents to further strengthen the safety and health management system. Customized safety and health management is also being implemented, such as operating a mobile healthcare program that provides personalized health consultations for workers using smartwatches.
Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, "We will strive to create a working environment where employees at the frontlines and partner company workers, who directly face the safety of citizens, can work with peace of mind through the establishment of a substantial safety and health management system."

Busan Transportation Corporation proved the excellence of its urban railway safety management system by winning five awards for 'Excellence' in safety and disaster management evaluations hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and other government agencies in 2023. The corporation also achieved 'ZERO major accidents' and a 30% reduction in industrial accidents compared to the previous year.
