Strengthening 'International Student Education Competitiveness'... Ministry of Education Policy Director Visits Kyungnam College of Information and Technology
On the 11th, Kyungnam College of Information & Technology held an on-site discussion meeting to enhance the educational competitiveness of international students in the university's main conference room, with officials from the Ministry of Education including Park Sungmin, Director General of Planning and Coordination, and the head of the Overseas Talent Attraction Team visiting the campus.

View original imageThe meeting was attended by Park Sungmin, Director General of Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of Education, Lee Unsik, Head of the Overseas Talent Attraction Team, members of the Internationalization Team, key university executives such as President Kim Taesang and Director of International Exchange Kim Honggil, as well as local industry representatives including Shim Suljin, CEO of Kodakt and President of the Busan Venture Business Association, Kim Kihwan, CEO of STS Robotech, and Ryu Hoigeol, Executive Director of Jeongmin Electronics.
During the meeting, Kyungnam College of Information & Technology presented its “settlement-type study abroad program” and “strategies to enhance the educational competitiveness of international students.” The settlement-type study abroad program is a strategy to make international students a new driving force for the local economy by building a system that supports education, employment, and settlement of international students in cooperation with local companies.
Park Sungmin, Director General of Planning and Coordination, said, “The settlement-type international student program being conducted at Kyungnam College of Information & Technology is a leading case nationwide,” and added, “The Ministry of Education will also seek various ways to support universities operating settlement-type international student education programs.”
President Kim Taesang stated, “We believe that if foreign manpower is not smoothly supplied during the era of low birth rates, the local economy could be at risk,” and continued, “As a community college that coexists with the region, it is our social responsibility to attract excellent international students who can help resolve the manpower shortage faced by local industries, and to nurture them through technical education so they can contribute to the local community.”
