Airline Proceeds with Passenger Compensation Following Procedures

A T'way Air passenger flight scheduled to depart from Incheon International Airport at noon and head to Osaka, Japan, was delayed by more than 11 hours.


According to multiple media reports including YTN on the 14th, T'way Air flight TW283 was able to take off at 11 p.m. the previous day due to an aircraft defect. This flight was originally planned to depart at noon. In other words, it was delayed by as much as 11 hours from the scheduled time.

Passengers trapped at the airport for several hours reportedly voiced numerous complaints. Airline staff tried to calm the angry passengers, but instead, more intense reactions erupted. There was even a commotion when one passenger collapsed, claiming to suffer from panic disorder.


T'way Air announced that it would fully refund round-trip ticket costs to passengers who gave up boarding and also pay an amount equivalent to about 20% of a one-way ticket. Additionally, for passengers heading to Japan, the airline decided to provide 100,000 KRW per group for taxi fares.
