On the day, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) stated, "There is no impact on nuclear power plants related to the magnitude 4.8 earthquake that occurred 4 km south-southwest of Buan-gun, Jeonbuk, at 8:26 a.m. on the 12th."
KHNP added, "The currently operating power plants are running normally, and although the seismic measurement at Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant recorded a maximum of 0.018g (Hanbit Unit 3), there is no impact on the power plant."

The magnitude 4.8 is the largest earthquake to occur on the Korean Peninsula this year. The tremors were felt not only in Honam but also in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong, and Yeongnam regions. In Jeonbuk, the maximum instrumental intensity was analyzed as '5,' which means "almost everyone feels it, and dishes and windows may break due to the shaking."
