Kakao has established a dedicated artificial intelligence (AI) organization called 'Kanana.' It will operate on a two-track system for service and model development to accelerate AI technology advancement.
According to the IT industry on the 11th, Kakao created the AI-dedicated organization 'Kanana.' It is divided into 'Kanana X,' which develops AI services, and 'Kanana Alpha,' which focuses on AI model development.
Kanana X is led by Lee Sang-ho, former Kakao CAIO (Chief AI Officer), and Kanana Alpha is led by Kim Byung-hak, co-CEO of Kakao Brain. Both have stepped down from their previous positions and now serve as PO (Product Owner), the leader responsible for services and products, and FO (Function Owner), the leader responsible for model development that forms the foundation of services, respectively. The company explained that the two organizations will collaborate as one team.

Kakao has completed the reorganization of its AI division following the absorption of personnel from its AI subsidiary Kakao Brain. With an increase in AI specialists at headquarters and a solid structure in place, the company plans to focus its capabilities on AI model development and service launches.
