Cause of Malfunction Analyzed, Measures Prepared to Prevent Recurrence
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Wolsong Nuclear Power Headquarters announced on the 10th that Shin-Wolsong Unit 2 (pressurized water reactor type, 1 million kW), which had halted power generation on the 18th of last month, has resumed operation after completing an analysis of the cause of the malfunction and maintenance.
For Shin-Wolsong Unit 2, the faulty reactor coolant pump motor, which caused the reactor shutdown, was replaced with a sound motor. The cause of the faulty motor was analyzed, and measures to prevent recurrence of similar incidents were established and follow-up actions were completed.
Shin-Wolsong Unit 2 resumed power generation at 1:34 p.m. on the 8th and reached normal operating output at 10:40 a.m. on the 10th.
