LS Cable & System, Mass Production of World's Highest Voltage 'HVDC Cable'
Supply of Mass-Produced Products for Tenet Power Transmission Network Project
LS Cable announced on the 10th that it has started mass production of 525-kilovolt (kV) ultra-high voltage direct current (HVDC) cables.

The cables produced by LS Cable will be used in the 'BalWin 4' and 'LanWin 1' projects, part of a 2-gigawatt (GW) transmission network project by TenneT, a transmission system operator in Germany and the Netherlands. These projects connect offshore wind farms in the North Sea with inland areas of Germany and the Netherlands via HVDC cables.
Compared to AC (alternating current), HVDC can transmit large-capacity currents over long distances with low loss, leading to increased adoption mainly in long-distance transmission networks. In Europe, HVDC cables are primarily used for offshore wind power expansion and cross-border power grid interconnection projects.
