Challenging but Top Employment Rate... Many Students from Kyungnam College of Information Technology Pass Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Exam
22 Mechanical Engineering Students Pass First Round Exam This Year
Students from the same department at a university have consecutively obtained the Industrial Engineer certificate.
Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Taesang) announced on the 7th that 22 students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering have passed the final round of the 2024 first Mechanical Maintenance Industrial Engineer certification exam.
This exam is known to be difficult due to its low pass rates for both written and practical tests. However, it is considered a "hot" certification among industrial engineer licenses because it boasts the highest employment rate for young people.
The Mechanical Maintenance Industrial Engineer, supervised by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, is a qualification that recognizes skilled technicians who are responsible for inspecting, disassembling, repairing, and maintaining various mechanical equipment to prevent accidents and ensure smooth machine processing, as well as managing and guiding the maintenance of production facilities.
According to a January 2023 announcement by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, the Mechanical Maintenance Industrial Engineer, which has the highest employment rate among young people, had a written exam pass rate of about 40% and a practical exam pass rate of about 70% in 2022 and 2023, making it a challenging qualification to obtain.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Gyeongnam Information University organized a special class through the Higher Vocational Education Base District (HiVE) project and celebrated the success of 22 students passing the certification exam with tailored education programs.
Kim Changhwa, an academic advisor for the department, said, "This achievement is the result of consistently running customized education and special certification classes to nurture students into professional technicians with both skills and character."
