“Gangseo-gu Also a Garden City”… Attractive Gardens Created Throughout the Urban Area
Near Magoknaru Station, Gangseo-gu Office Intersection, and Seoul Botanical Garden
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced on the 7th that it has consecutively created gardens where various flowers and trees can be enjoyed throughout the city, including in front of Exit 5 of Magoknaru Station, the intersection near Gangseo-gu Office Intersection, and near the Seoul Botanic Garden Greenhouse.
The district created a green space of 295㎡ in front of Exit 5 of Magoknaru Station earlier this month. Visitors can enjoy 680 rose plants of various kinds such as Amber Queen and Europiana, as well as 2,500 flowering plants including hydrangeas, crape myrtles, and lilies. Uniquely designed benches with cup holders were also installed.
Near the Gangseo-gu Office Intersection in Hwagok-dong, an additional green space of 80㎡ was created. The garden was formed with a multi-layered planting of 1,380 plants including peonies and tail flowers in place of removed pavement blocks. It transformed the traffic island, which helps pedestrian safety on the road, into a resting space that aids mental relaxation.
Along the sidewalk in front of the Seoul Botanic Garden Greenhouse, a garden of 82㎡ was established. Twenty-two species of herbaceous plants were planted, including emerald green plants that remain lush all year round and alliums that shine in spring and summer, delighting local residents.
The district expects that this garden creation will provide eco-friendly functions such as air purification and reduction of urban heat island effects, as well as emotional stability through comfort and abundance.
