Ryu Jin, Chairman of Hankyung Association, Presents 'Hero's Family Photo' to Families of Fallen Heroes
Hankyung Association - Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs - Hanwha Aero 'Uri, Together' Project
The Korea Economic Association announced that Chairman Ryu Jin held the opening ceremony of the "Uri, Hamkke" (We, Together) project on the morning of the 7th at the FKI Tower in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, with Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Kang Jeong-ae and CEO Son Jae-il of Hanwha Aerospace in attendance.
The project was established to remember uniformed heroes who dedicated and sacrificed themselves to protect the lives and safety of the people. It was planned with the purpose of having the nation and the business community stand by the families left behind and support the healthy growth of young children so that they do not lose their dreams and hopes.
The project launch was joined by the families of three uniformed heroes: the late Police Lieutenant Yu Jae-guk, who died in the line of duty while searching for a missing person who jumped into the Han River; the late Fire Sergeant Shim Mun-gyu, who died after being swept away by a rapid current during a water rescue operation; and the late Sergeant Lee Tae-gyun, who died in an explosion accident during K-9 self-propelled artillery firing training.
To commemorate the 100th day since the birth of the child of the late Police Lieutenant Park Chan-jun, who died last October while investigating a fire at Wonmisan in Bucheon, a 100-day photo and family photos were taken and gifted.
Photographer Kim Myung-jung, widely known as the exclusive photographer for Paul McCartney of The Beatles, is participating in the project to take family portraits of 31 Heroes' families. The plan is to create works befitting the dignity of being the family of a "hero" and present them as gifts to the families.
Chairman Ryu Jin said, "Although we cannot fill the void left by the heroes, we have prepared this project with the intention of always being by the families' side," adding, "The Korea Economic Association will do its utmost to support the families of heroes so that they never lose courage and pride."
Minister Kang Jeong-ae said, "I thank the Korea Economic Association and Hanwha Aerospace for joining forces to record the beautiful moments of children growing day by day and the happy moments of families and to deliver moving gifts."
CEO Son Jae-il said, "Hanwha is a leading defense company representing the Republic of Korea, with the corporate value of 'Together, Far.' We will continue to spare no support so that the futures of children can shine even for the heroes' sake."
