The People Power Party Absent from the Plenary Session Declares "No Vote on the Election of the Chairperson Panel"
Final Decision Expected Through General Assembly at 1:30 PM
The People Power Party has decided to abstain from attending the plenary session for the election of the Speaker of the National Assembly.
On the morning of the 5th, after concluding a party meeting, Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, told reporters, "After finishing the party meeting, we reaffirmed our position," adding, "We cannot accept the unilateral enforcement of the plenary session despite the lack of proper consultation and agreement between the ruling and opposition parties regarding the agenda." He emphasized, "Our members share this view, and we cannot attend the plenary session or participate in the vote."
When asked whether the party would not nominate a vice speaker from the People Power Party, Choo maintained the party's stance, saying, "Whether it is the Speaker or vice speakers, we cannot accept the agenda today as it was unilaterally enforced," indicating they will not participate in the election of the Speaker's panel.
