Nong-eochon Gong Jeonnam Conducts Drainage Pump Operation Training to Prepare for Summer Heavy Rainfall

The Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation (Head: Jo Young-ho) conducted actual operation drills assuming disaster situations at 150 drainage pump stations managed by the headquarters in preparation for the heavy rains during the summer season.

According to the Jeonnam Headquarters on the 4th, this drill focused on strengthening rapid response capabilities by having the person responsible for operating the corporation's drainage stations promptly arrive at the site and operate the drainage station to report the results immediately upon receiving a message from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety assuming flooding of farmland due to heavy rain.

In addition, the Jeonnam Headquarters is conducting intensive safety inspections on hydraulic facilities within the jurisdiction and is focusing on preparing for risk factors through emergency response drills at 36 major reservoirs.

The emergency response drills are virtual exercises conducted in collaboration with related organizations by region to cultivate flexible and rapid response capabilities in emergency situations caused by typhoons and other abnormal weather, assuming scenarios such as reservoir slope erosion and overflow situations.

Jo Young-ho, head of the Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, said, “Unpredictable abnormal climate phenomena are occurring frequently, making prior preparation for prevention even more important,” and added, “We plan to establish thorough preparedness for emergency situations through continuous and substantial virtual drills.”
