The opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Namibia, a small country in South Africa famous for its red sand deserts, was held on the 3rd in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

View original imageOn this day, the ceremony was attended by Peya Mushelenga, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Namibia; Morven M. Luswenyo, Ambassador of Namibia to Korea; Nangula Uaandja, Chairperson of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB); and about 10 other delegates. From the Korean side, 15 people attended, including Yeo Woon-gi, Chairman of the Korea-Africa Foundation; Kwon Se-jung, former Consul General in Washington; Kim Ki-sung, CEO of the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives; and Hong Seong-wan, Auditor of the News Communication Promotion Association.
Peya Mushelenga, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Namibia, said, “Congratulations on the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Namibia in the Republic of Korea, and I hope it will be of great help to both countries in the future.” Mr. Lim Chang-seon, appointed as Namibia’s Honorary Consul in December and CEO of Interamuse Co., Ltd., responded, “I will do my best to contribute to the national interest through synergy effects as much as I can.”

Lim Chang-seon, Honorary Consul of Namibia in Korea, said, “The priorities for investment in Namibia are diverse fields such as tourism, food, transportation logistics, renewable energy, mineral resources, and machinery electronics,” adding, “Namibia, with a small population and vast territory, is evaluated as politically stable and is expected to have higher growth potential in the future.”
