Socar Releases Data on Most Visited Campsites... Preference Order: Gyeonggi, Seoul, Gangwon
Socar recently announced on the 3rd that over the past two years, Socar car-sharing customers most frequently visited campsites located in Gyeonggi, Seoul, Gangwon, Chungnam, and Incheon as travel destinations in June.
This survey was extracted based on vehicle locations where the engine was turned off and parked for more than 6 hours, including midnight, within 150 meters of 3,376 campsites nationwide registered in last year's Korea Tourism Organization public data.
The survey results showed that about 1% of all Socar reservations during the same period involved car-sharing usage of an average of over 35 hours to visit campsites located nationwide. The preferred campsite regions were in order ▲Gyeonggi Province ▲Seoul ▲Gangwon Province ▲Chungcheongnam-do ▲Incheon, and 6 out of 10 people visited campsites located within an average of 100 km from their departure point.
So far this month, the campsite most visited by Socar users was 'Gapyeong Myeongjisan Caravan Glamping' located in Gyeonggi. Following were 'Annyeong Haneul' and 'Nanji Camping Site' in Seoul, 'Gwaneumsa Camping Site' in Jeju, 'Eulwangri Camping Doctor' in Incheon, 'Five Emotion by My Gear' in Gyeonggi, and 'Mulgyeol Camping Site' in Chungcheongnam-do. Next were 'Jukdo Auto Camping Site', 'Pyeongchang Campnic', and 'Gangneung Gyeongpo Caravan Park', with 5 out of the top 10 visited campsites located in the metropolitan area and 3 located in Gangwon Province.
Looking at preferred campsites by age group, the 20s and 30s favored emotional campsites. In particular, they frequently visited places where they could experience unique and distinctive camping such as caravans and glamping.
Customers aged 40 and above preferred campsites equipped with various auxiliary facilities that families can enjoy together, such as kids cafes and swimming pools. Most visited campsites for a 1-night 2-day schedule, but 24% of those aged 40 and above visited campsites for a 2-night 3-day schedule.
Socar customers who went camping mainly used small sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and compact cars. By age, those in their 20s preferred compact cars, those in their 30s preferred small SUVs, and those aged 40 and above had the highest usage rate of compact SUVs. The higher the age group, the higher the usage rate of SUVs compared to sedans, and the electric vehicle usage rate among customers in their 30s was more than twice as high as other age groups.
