Jeju Fire Department Conducts Special Rescue Training to Enhance Rescue Team Expertise
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire Safety Headquarters (Chief Go Min-ja) announced on the 31st that from the 20th to the 30th, a special rescue training was conducted at the Jeju Fire Education Center to enhance the expertise of 119 rescue team members.
This training focused on further strengthening rescue capabilities in preparation for building collapses and incidents where fellow team members become trapped.
The training was conducted in teams and consisted of scenarios involving searching for and rescuing victims buried in collapsed buildings caused by earthquakes and quickly rescuing trapped fellow team members at disaster sites such as fires.
The goal of the training was to simultaneously improve the professionalism and teamwork of the 119 rescue team members.
Specific training content included ▲supporting structures and creating passageways to enter collapsed buildings ▲concrete structure drilling techniques ▲emergency breathing and escape methods to reduce air consumption when trapped inside fire scenes ▲search and rescue techniques for trapped fellow team members.
In particular, practical team training using actual concrete structures (manholes) and live fire training sites focused on acquiring professional rescue techniques and enhancing self-protection and fellow rescue abilities in case of team member entrapment incidents.
Chief Go Min-ja stated, “We will do our best to achieve zero safety accidents among team members while enhancing rescue capabilities through systematic training tailored to various disaster environments. Through continuous training, we will provide the best rescue services and protect the precious lives of residents.”
