The ceremony was attended by executives and employees from five institutions, including Kang Kyung-su, head of KB Securities Jeju branch; Kim Yu-rae, head of the Korea Environment Corporation Jeju branch; Ko Young-pyo, head of the Elderly Welfare Division at Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office; Shin Hee-gyun, head of the Jeju headquarters of the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute; and Kim Hyo-ui, director of Jeju Senior Club. Through this agreement, KB Securities will participate in the 'Upcycling Parasol Free Support Project.'
The Upcycling Parasol Free Support Project involves producing parasols, tables, chairs, and other items by upcycling discarded transparent PET bottles generated in Jeju and providing them to five major beaches in the province (Hamdeok, Iho Tewoo, Gwakji, Hyeopjae, and Jungmun). KB Securities expects this resource-circulating project to contribute to job creation for socially vulnerable senior groups and the revitalization of the local economy.
Kim Sung-hyun and Lee Hong-gu, CEOs of KB Securities, stated, "Since this project is a complex initiative encompassing environmental protection, local economic revitalization, and job creation for vulnerable groups, we will do our best to support it." They added, "KB Securities hopes this project will become a model ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiative for regional coexistence. We will continue to strive to be a company leading ESG management through various activities."
KB Securities is making various efforts to practice ESG management through eco-friendly resource circulation using waste materials. In June last year, it carried out a free installation project of upcycled safety bars to prevent falls in cooperation with the Korea Environment Corporation Jeju branch. This project collects and recycles waste plastic to produce and install upcycled safety bars free of charge for elderly people living alone. Through this project, a total of 250 households received free upcycled safety bars to prevent falls, and the waste plastic collection activities recycled 120 tons of discarded plastic annually, resulting in a reduction of approximately 480 tons of carbon emissions and the creation of senior jobs.
