Lee Gwidong Acting Director Urges Department Heads to Lead Responsible Administration

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that Deputy Governor Lee Gwi-dong will take charge of the county administration as acting governor following the vacancy of Governor Lee Sang-cheol on the 30th due to a Supreme Court ruling.

Acting Governor Lee Gwi-dong held an emergency meeting with heads of departments on the 30th, urging them to remain steadfast and fully committed to their duties under any circumstances while carrying out county administration, and emphasized overcoming this difficult period together wisely.

The acting governor stated that he will make every effort for the stability and development of the local community as usual, and requested department heads to lead responsible administration to ensure that major pending projects planned for this year proceed without any setbacks.

He instructed the eup and myeon heads, who are at the forefront of administration, to carefully handle field complaints directly related to residents and asked them to foster a mood of gathering public sentiment and promoting harmony in the region.

Acting Governor Lee especially ordered strict establishment of public service discipline and diligent performance of their duties to prevent any administrative gaps, as well as prompt response to various situations to alleviate any concerns of the residents.

Although facing an unprecedented situation of a gubernatorial vacancy, he expressed confidence that if the residents, the council, and public officials unite their strength, this crisis can be overcome well, and hoped that everyone would come together to share wisdom.

Meanwhile, according to Article 124 of the Local Autonomy Act, when a local government head position becomes vacant, the deputy governor acts on behalf of the governor. Therefore, Gokseong-gun will be led by the deputy governor as acting governor until a new governor is elected and inaugurated in the by-election scheduled for October 16.
