Gwangjin-gu, Comprehensive Survey on Accessibility for Disabled Persons in Cultural Facilities
Monitoring Conducted on 19 Cultural Facilities (Full Survey) to Improve Accessibility for Disabled Persons

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is conducting a 'Comprehensive Survey of Multi-use Cultural Facilities' to enhance the accessibility of cultural facilities for people with disabilities.
Although facilities for people with disabilities in cultural venues are mandated by law, there is a need for improvement due to insufficient convenience facilities and assistive devices. In February, a famous celebrity visited a movie theater but was unable to watch the film because there were no wheelchair seats available.
Accordingly, Gwangjin-gu will monitor the accessibility for people with disabilities at 19 multi-use cultural facilities, including movie theaters and performance halls.
The Disabled Monitoring Team of the Gwangjin-gu Convenience Enhancement Technology Support Center will visit the targeted facilities to conduct inspections. They will focus on ▲availability of seats accessible to people with disabilities ▲access routes for entry and movement ▲restrooms for people with disabilities ▲braille blocks and other accessibility features.
Facilities found to be in violation of laws and regulations will be subject to administrative actions such as correction orders. In particular, even facilities that meet legal standards will receive feedback on any inconveniences faced by people with disabilities to encourage voluntary improvements.
