A man in his 50s who assaulted a taxi driver while the vehicle was in operation, then got off and caused a disturbance by blocking traffic in the middle of the road, was arrested by the police.
On the 23rd, Yonhap News reported that "Busan Saha Police Station has booked and is investigating a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on charges including violation of the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (assault on a driver)." Mr. A is accused of repeatedly assaulting the taxi driver’s face inside a taxi operating on Gangbyeon-daero in Saha-gu, Busan, at around 6:48 p.m. on the 20th.
While the taxi driver got off and reported to the police, Mr. A damaged the turn signal lever and the fare meter with his fists and then fled. Afterwards, Mr. A walked on the road, blocking moving vehicles and striking the hoods of cars, causing a disturbance until he was apprehended by responding police officers.
In particular, a video capturing Mr. A’s behavior spread on online communities, sparking public outrage. The video showed Mr. A threateningly striking the hoods of vehicles in the middle of a road where buses and vans were rapidly passing by. Netizens reacted with comments such as, "How startled and scared must the drivers inside the cars have been?
