Yongin City Prepares for Flood Risk Using Big Data
Establishing a 'Data Platform Service' for Disaster Response
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has established a system that predicts and responds to disasters caused by severe weather such as heavy rain using big data.
On the 22nd, Yongin City announced that it will provide a 'data platform service' by integrating current status data into the 'Yongin City Big Data Analysis Platform' to quickly respond to damage during the rainy season and support policy formulation.
This service connects the local weather observation system to real-time water level sensors to display river water level risk, and implements spatial information of flood-prone areas to calculate risk levels. Based on these results, it derives priority areas for flooding and visualizes the risk status.
Additionally, by utilizing past data such as flood trace maps, predictive data like flood maps, and current river data, a flood risk analysis and prediction process according to rainfall status has been established to be effectively used by departments responding to disaster sites.
