Mokpo National University Student Lee Jeong-hyun Wins Grand Prize in 'National Land Information Challenge' Detailed Survey Competition
Received High Scores in Methods for Surveying Land Coordinates and Boundaries
Junghyun Lee (Class of 2021, Senior), a student in the Department of Cadastral Studies at Mokpo National University (President Song Hacheol), won first place nationwide and received the Grand Prize (Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award) at the ‘2024 National Land Information Challenge: Cadastral and Drone Surveying Competition’ hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
According to Mokpo National University on the 21st, the competition was held to establish governance for national land information projects and to nurture future talents in spatial information. University students from across the country participated in the detailed surveying category, performing cadastral surveying tasks and competing.
Junghyun Lee, representing Mokpo National University in this competition, demonstrated the cadastral surveying skills accumulated so far and received high scores in methods for surveying land coordinates and boundaries.
Lee Jeong-hyun, a student in the Department of Cadastre at National Mokpo University, won the grand prize at the 2024 National Land Information Challenge Detailed Survey Competition.

Junghyun Lee said, “The efforts I have made in major courses and obtaining certifications have laid the foundation for this award, and I am pleased to be able to enhance the honor of my school and department.”
Professor Minho Park, head of the Department of Cadastral Studies at Mokpo National University, said, “As a result of students voluntarily practicing on weekends and holidays while preparing for the competition, we were able to achieve valuable results. We expect that winning the Grand Prize at this Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport competition will further spread interest in cadastral surveying and spatial information among many students.”
The Department of Cadastral Studies at Mokpo National University was established in 1985 and is the only specialized department among national universities that researches and educates the academic theories and practical work of national land information, which investigates, registers, and manages the country’s land space.
