US Deploys China Trend Analysis Expert to US Embassy in Japan
Deployment Starting from July
The U.S. administration plans to assign personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Japan to monitor trends related to the Chinese government and companies, Kyodo News reported on the 18th.
According to the report, the Joe Biden administration will, for the first time in East Asia, assign a person responsible for tracking China-related developments at the U.S. Embassy in Japan starting this July.
Since the Donald Trump administration, the U.S. has been operating a program that deploys China experts around the world to gather information. Currently, about 20 personnel are stationed at embassies in Belgium, Italy, Australia, Thailand, and other countries.

The person assigned to Tokyo will belong to the U.S. Department of State's China diplomacy control tower known as the "Office of China Coordination," also called the "China House," and is expected to serve for three years. They will also be responsible for tasks related to semiconductor and supply chain restructuring.
