Gwangju Dong-gu, 5·18 44th Anniversary Special Exhibition... 'As a Weapon Called Poetry'
Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will hold a special exhibition commemorating the 44th anniversary of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement at the 'Poet Moon Byung-ran's House' located in Jisan-dong, with an opening ceremony on the 17th, and the exhibition will run until August.
Under the title "Enduring This Era of Crisis with Poetry as a Weapon," this exhibition features poems related to May 18 written by poet Moon Byung-ran.
This year, a special "Printmaking Experience Exhibition" is prepared for citizens to participate in free of charge. Visitors can create print artworks depicting Mudeungsan Mountain and the starlight above the mountain, and complete their work by writing a phrase commemorating May Gwangju at the top of the piece.
Additionally, visitors can write letters on postcards featuring the print artworks and send them to the spirits of May, bereaved families, and citizens of Gwangju. They can also write stories they have kept in their hearts but never told to their closest or loved ones on the postcards and gift them.
