The Donghaeng Festival is a large-scale promotional event that offers discounts on products from small and medium-sized merchants through online and offline distribution channels and local events. It will be held simultaneously at special event venues such as Cheonggyecheon Plaza, nationwide retail stores, and online until the 28th. Products from outstanding small business owners are sold through live commerce, TV home shopping, and offline stores. According to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, sales reached 560.1 billion KRW during the Donghaeng Festival period from the 1st to the 12th.
In this live commerce broadcast streamed through WEMAKEPRICE, the products of small business owners were vividly delivered along with the on-site atmosphere. Six products from small business owners in the Seoul area, including misutgaru (traditional grain powder drink) and hand wash, were introduced. A small business owner selling rice cakes on-site said, "This is the first time I have actually seen such live commerce, so it is very fascinating," and added, "It seems meaningful that this kind of broadcast is done for small business owners."
The live commerce support project will be held 12 more times during the remaining Donghaeng Festival period in May. The Small and Medium Business Distribution Center is preparing 10 live commerce sessions linked with the Seoul Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration at Incheon Airport and century-old restaurant meal kit stores, as well as 2 on-site live commerce sessions. A representative from the Small and Medium Business Distribution Center explained, "Even if the broadcast does not immediately lead to sales, it can have a significant promotional effect itself, so small business owners are very interested," and added, "We support the production of videos and smart stores along with live broadcasts."The live commerce projects recruited by the Small and Medium Business Distribution Center show an average competition rate of over 4 to 1.This year, through the live commerce specialized project, sales support will be provided to 1,400 small business owners and SMEs on major distribution platforms such as WEMAKEPRICE, TMON, and Kakao through planned live commerce broadcasts.

When conducting live commerce, small business owners often face difficulties due to the high costs and lack of expertise in securing show hosts and production. However, with support projects and budgets from related organizations, these challenges are alleviated, resulting in high satisfaction among small business owners. Yang Jeong-gu, CEO of Everytic, who sells 'Protteok' introduced in the live commerce, said, "I applied for the sales support project because it was difficult to access online after starting the business," and added, "I tried conducting live commerce myself, but there were shortcomings, and thanks to the professional show hosts, it was actually connected to many sales."
