Park Chandae "Yoon, Accept and Promulgate the Special Investigation Act for Fallen Marine Corps Members"
Park "No Justification for Veto"
Jinseongjun Urges Passage of Special Law on Jeonse Fraud
Park Chan-dae, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "Regarding the investigation of the fallen Marine Corps member, there are strong suspicions of interference from the Presidential Office. Without a special prosecutor independent from the living power, can the truth be revealed?"
On the morning of the 16th, at a policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly, Floor Leader Park said, "It is time for President Yoon Seok-yeol to accept the special prosecutor law for the fallen Marine Corps member," adding, "Public opinion overwhelmingly supports the introduction of a special prosecutor, and there is no justification to exercise a veto." He continued, "There have been six cases in the past where special prosecutors were appointed for ongoing investigations," criticizing, "Saying we should wait and watch the investigation by the Corruption Investigation Office is equivalent to concealing the truth."

He said, "A young man fulfilling his military duty has died. Is it such an excessive demand to uncover the truth behind his death and reveal the reality of external pressure?" He urged, "To restore fairness and common sense, to uphold the honor and pride of the Marine Corps, and to protect the lives and safety of the people, the president must make a decision." He further emphasized, "How long do you intend to refuse and stubbornly resist? Do not waste the last chance and immediately promulgate the special prosecutor law for the fallen Marine Corps member."

At the meeting, Jin Seong-jun, chairman of the Policy Committee, spoke in favor of passing the 'Special Act on Jeonse Fraud' amendment. The amendment focuses on 'prior relief and subsequent recovery' of the damages. Chairman Jin said, "Before more young lives are lost, urgent legislation is necessary," adding, "It must be passed at the last plenary session of the 21st National Assembly on May 28." He also criticized, "It is truly regrettable that the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, ‘Young people caused this by carelessly signing jeonse contracts due to lack of experience,’" and added, "There needs to be recognition that this is a social disaster."
