Seoul City will launch the Climate Companion Card for foreign tourists and domestic short-term visitors starting in July. The card will also offer discounts on admission fees to certain tourist attractions, significantly enhancing convenience.
On the 16th, Seoul City announced that it will introduce the 'Climate Companion Card Tourist Pass' to provide unlimited benefits to domestic and international citizens visiting Seoul for a short period and to boost Seoul's tourism competitiveness.
Seoul City is paying attention to the increasing demand for the 'Climate Companion Card' among foreigners visiting Seoul and domestic residents staying in Seoul for tourism purposes for a short period. In addition, with the global K-content boom, the city has added transportation-related considerations to help Seoul secure its status as a global tourist city, leading to the launch of the 'Climate Companion Card Tourist Pass.' Mayor Oh Se-hoon also announced the release of a dedicated 'Climate Companion Card' for tourists during his recent business trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Major cities worldwide, such as London and Paris, operate various transportation passes for tourists. Reflecting this trend, Seoul City plans to allow visitors to use Seoul's world-class public transportation without the burden of transportation costs.
The 'Climate Companion Card Tourist Pass' consists of four types (1, 2, 3, and 5-day passes). Domestic and foreign tourists visiting Seoul can use Seoul's subway system and licensed buses unlimitedly at affordable prices ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 KRW. In particular, tourists will enjoy the same cultural and performance facility discounts applied to the Climate Companion Card, such as a 50% discount on admission fees to the Seoul Science Museum and Seoul Grand Park, greatly improving convenience.
The prices are ▲5,000 KRW for a 1-day pass ▲8,000 KRW for a 2-day pass ▲10,000 KRW for a 3-day pass ▲15,000 KRW for a 5-day pass, allowing unlimited use of Seoul public transportation during the selected period at a low cost equivalent to using public transportation 2 to 3 times per day.
Starting in July, foreign tourists visiting Seoul can purchase a physical card at the Seoul Tourism Plaza Tourist Information Center (Jongno-gu, Cheonggyecheon-ro), Myeongdong Tourist Information Center, customer safety offices at subway lines 1 to 8, and convenience stores near subway stations. They can then select and charge the pass type that fits their schedule at charging stations located in subway stations of lines 1 to 8, line 9, and the Sinlim and Uisinseon lines.
Domestic tourists can use both physical and mobile cards. They can easily issue a mobile card via the Mobile T-money app or purchase a physical card at customer safety offices in subway stations of lines 1 to 8 or convenience stores near the Sinlim and Uisinseon lines. Then, they can charge 1, 2, 3, or 5-day passes at charging stations in subway stations of lines 1 to 8, line 9, and the Sinlim and Uisinseon lines. However, while the 1, 2, 3, and 5-day passes can also be charged on the existing Climate Companion Card, unlike the 30-day pass?which allows users to select a start date within 5 days of charging?usage for these passes begins immediately from the charging date.
