[One Day Walk] The Path Dreamed and Walked by Joseon Scholars... 'Yeoju 35 Course'
Hangang Culture Center~Namhangang Bridge~Dorimaeul Hall
Section Distance 10.2 km... Difficulty 'Medium'
The Gyeonggi Dullegil ‘Yeoju Course 35’ starts from the Hangang Culture Center and continues through Namhangang Bridge, Yeoju Caravan Camping Site, and Yeoju Pureundal, ending at Dorim Village Hall. The section is 10.2 km long, with an estimated duration of 5 hours and 15 minutes. The difficulty level is classified as ‘medium’.
The starting stamp near the Hangang Culture Center features a picture of Gangcheonbo. Gangcheonbo is represented by a yellow sailboat crossing the Han River and a white heron. Of the total length of 440 meters, 350 meters is a movable weir that can open and close sluice gates as needed. Around the weir, there are grass plazas, riverside walking paths, and ecological parks.
Leaving the Hangang Culture Center and walking along the village road to the riverside, you will encounter the now-unused Burau Ferry Terminal. It was a resting place for boats traveling across the Namhan River, connecting Yeoju-eup and Gangcheon-myeon on the opposite bank. It was also a ferry used by Gangcheon-myeon residents to go to the Yeoju market. The rocks near the ferry terminal are red in color, and it is said that the name Burau originated from calling them ‘red rocks’ or ‘Rukbau’.
After passing the Burau Ferry Terminal, a gentle forest path continues for quite a while. Passing fields and waterside areas and walking briefly along a local road, you will come across the Heungham-ri Prehistoric Site. It is known as an early Bronze Age agricultural settlement that lasted for hundreds of years. Excavations have confirmed a total of 16 house sites, and it is presumed that there were more. Various grains such as rice, barley, millet, and sorghum were also found. This shows that rice was cultivated in the Han River basin even in the early Bronze Age.

Passing Yeoju Caravan Camping Site and Pureundal, you enter the ‘Ahopsari Gwageogil’ (Nine Bends Past Examination Road). The riverside path connecting Heungham-ri and Dori twists and turns nine times. This path is said to have been walked by Joseon scholars from Gyeongsang-do, Chungcheong-do, and other regions who dreamed of taking the state examination in Seoul. As you continue walking, you will soon see the destination, Dorim Village Hall.
