Promoting Tourist Influx and Revitalizing the Local Economy
Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 14th that it has been finally selected for the Jeollanam-do-led 「Namdo Landscape Creation Project」 contest.
The Namdo Landscape Creation Project is a contest promoted by Jeollanam-do to discover representative landscape models of Namdo by utilizing differentiated and attractive landscape resources, aiming to attract tourists and revitalize the local economy.
This contest was conducted targeting 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do, and the final target sites were selected through the first document screening and the second on-site evaluation. Gurye-gun, which was finally selected in this contest, secured a project budget of 1 billion KRW (300 million KRW from the provincial government).
Gurye-gun plans to create a nighttime landscape attraction by installing nighttime landscape lighting (sculptural landscape lighting, light tunnel landscape lighting, tree lights, etc.), convenience facilities, and photo zones along the embankment area of Seosicheon Stream in Gurye-eup, where flood recovery was completed, incorporating storytelling that heals the pain of the flood on August 8, 2020.
Kim Soon-ho, the county governor, said, “I hope this Namdo Landscape Creation Project will provide a new healing space for all Gurye residents who overcame difficult times together and greatly help attract nighttime tourists and revitalize the local economy.”
