"Elevating the National Sports Festival with Dignity" ... Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam, Pledges Success with Athletes
Governor Park Wan-su of Gyeongnam Province and local athletes pledged to successfully host the National Sports Festival to be held in Gimhae this October.
On the afternoon of the 13th, Gyeongnam Province held a resolution meeting to encourage participation in the Provincial Sports Festival and the National Sports for All Festival, as well as to pledge the successful hosting of the 105th National Sports Festival at the Changwon Convention Center (CECO) Convention Hall.
The 105th National Sports Festival will take place from October 11 to 17 at 73 venues including Gimhae Sports Complex, and the 44th National Para Games will be held from the 25th to 30th at 37 venues.
During the event, reports on the preparation status of the 105th National Sports Festival, results of the 63rd Provincial Sports Festival, and achievements of the 2024 National Sports for All Festival were shared.
Participants are wishing for the success of the sports event at the Gyeongnam Provincial Sports Festival opening, the National Sports for All Festival participation encouragement, and the 105th National Sports Festival success pledge rally.

About 250 local sports officials including Governor Park, Kim Oh-young, Chairman of the Provincial Sports Council, city and county sports council chairpersons, executive directors, heads of sports organizations, and professional directors gathered to unite the strength of local athletes for the success of the National Sports Festival, which is being held in Gyeongnam for the first time in 14 years.
They read aloud the resolution for the successful National Sports Festival and together chanted “Cultural Sports Festival,” “Safe Sports Festival,” “Economic Sports Festival,” and “Happy Sports Festival.”
They emphasized their commitment to cooperate for the success of the 105th National Sports Festival, aiming for “Korea running again together with Gyeongnam.”
Gyeongnam Governor Park Wan-su is delivering encouragement at the resolution meeting to support the hosting of the Provincial Sports Festival, participation in the National Sports for All Festival, and the successful execution of the 105th National Sports Festival.

On the day, Governor Park also listened to the voices of sports organizations and athletes on site and sought ways to develop sports in Gyeongnam.
Representatives of local sports organizations proposed ▲reducing the operation of preliminary matches in the Provincial Sports Festival and ▲measures to decrease traffic volume during the National Sports Festival. The province and the Provincial Sports Council responded that they would review the on-site suggestions and actively reflect them in Gyeongnam’s sports policies.

Governor Park said, “This October’s National Sports Festival will be an opportunity not only to showcase sports but also to promote Gyeongnam’s history, culture, and the status and identity of its people,” adding, “I will work closely with Gyeongnam sports officials to create a dignified and excellent sports festival.”
