MS and Amazon Invest Trillions in France to Build IT Infrastructure
Major U.S. companies such as Microsoft (MS) and Amazon are investing trillions of won in France to build IT-related infrastructure.
According to major foreign media including Bloomberg on the 13th (local time), MS plans to invest 4 billion euros (about 6 trillion won) in France to build data centers and establish cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. MS announced that it will nurture 1 million people in the AI field and support 2,500 startups by 2027.
MS's announcement came on the occasion of "Choose France," an annual investment attraction event organized by the French government. This event has been held annually since 2018, the year after President Emmanuel Macron took office.
Earlier, Amazon also announced plans to invest 1.2 billion euros (about 1.8 trillion won) in France to meet demand in the generative AI sector.

Through this year's event, France attracted investments worth 15 billion euros (about 22.1 trillion won). Last year, it attracted 13 billion euros (about 19.2 trillion won).
