The ‘digital cognitive function test’ is a method that accurately evaluates individual cognitive functions using tablet computers for those with cognitive decline and mild cognitive impairment identified through screening tests. It mainly assesses memory, orientation, language ability, and visuospatial skills, which tend to show consistent decline in most Alzheimer's disease patients.
Previously, dementia cognitive function tests were conducted as one-on-one handwritten tests led by an examiner. However, the ‘digital cognitive function test’ allows subjects to take the test themselves using a tablet computer with the examiner’s assistance. This reduces spatial and temporal constraints, enables automatic scoring of test data, shortens test time, and allows for more efficient dementia diagnosis.
The district operates a cognitive enhancement training program incorporating information and communication technology (ICT) for those with cognitive decline and mild cognitive impairment based on the digital cognitive function test results. For dementia patients who have difficulty going out, an artificial intelligence (AI) care environment is being established at home to provide cognitive function enhancement and emotional care services, further strengthening the digital dementia management system.
Meanwhile, Dongdaemun-gu detects dementia management candidates early through about 10,000 dementia tests annually (screening tests, diagnostic tests, differential tests). These individuals are classified into normal, high-risk, and dementia groups, and systematic dementia management projects are conducted, including prevention, cognitive health programs, deterioration prevention, and linkage to various social services. For more detailed information about dementia management projects, inquiries can be made to the Dongdaemun-gu Dementia Safety Center.
