Daegu Mangwolji Tadpoles Begin Large-Scale Migration to Uksusan Habitat
Spawning in Sanseo from February to March
Returns after growing 2 cm in body length
Daegu Suseong-gu (District Mayor Kim Dae-kwon) announced that the baby toads born in Mangwolji, Uksu-dong, a large-scale toad spawning site, have begun their mass migration toward their habitat in the Uksusan area.
The baby toads, which started moving from 11 PM on the 11th, are expected to migrate over a period of about fifteen days, mainly on humid days.

View original imageEvery year around February to March, about 1,000 adult toads descend from Uksusan to Mangwolji in Daegu Suseong-gu, where each female lays about 10,000 eggs.
The tadpoles hatched from the eggs grow into baby toads about 2 cm in length in Mangwolji, and around mid-May, tens of thousands of them return in groups to their habitat in the Uksusan area.
