Ulsan City Takes Initiative to Improve Housing Conditions for Vulnerable Residents
Housing Convenience Support for Low-Income Disabled and Elderly
Customized Design and Construction for 52 Selected Households
Ulsan City is promoting the ‘2024 Low-Income Disabled and Elderly Housing Convenience Support Project’ to ensure housing safety and improve living environments for disabled and elderly residents.
This project, which has been in operation since 2022, supports the renovation of homes where disabled and elderly people live, along with the installation of convenience facilities for the disabled.
This year, a total of 52 households will be selected for support.
For this year, 52 households were selected through on-site surveys and evaluations of disability grades, age, urgency, and living conditions, targeting disabled and elderly applicants who applied via announcements on district and county websites.
By district and county, the distribution is as follows: Jung-gu 10 households, Nam-gu 10 households, Dong-gu 12 households, Buk-gu 10 households, and Ulju-gun 10 households. A total of 250 million KRW will be invested, with up to 5 million KRW supported per household.
The main support includes removing door thresholds that hinder wheelchair users’ mobility, installing ramps for easier movement, and installing wall safety handrails and non-slip floor tiles to ensure safety.
Additionally, there are projects to create barrier-free living environments, remodel sinks, repair bathrooms, replace entrance doors, install sensor detectors, and replace wallpaper and flooring to improve residential living conditions.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “In the first half of the year, we plan to conduct district and county-specific designs reflecting individual living environments, types of disabilities, and desired improvements, and then begin construction in the second half of the year. We will make every effort to ensure the project provides safe and comfortable homes without inconvenience for disabled and elderly residents.”
