View original imageOver the past 30 years, Director Yang has been involved in the display industry, contributing to the development of new display technologies including ultra-high-resolution liquid crystal displays (LCDs), large-area TV technologies, as well as OLEDoS, Stretchable, Flexible, and Transparent displays. For these contributions, he received the Presidential Citation in 2018.
He led the development of ultra-high-brightness and ultra-high-resolution OLEDoS by researching design optimization of OLEDoS for XR (Extended Reality) devices and high-performance organic light-emitting diode (OLED) device stacking structure technologies. In 2022, he also contributed to the world's first development of a stretchable display that can elastically expand a 12-inch screen up to 14 inches while simultaneously achieving high resolution (100 ppi) comparable to general monitors and full RGB (red, green, blue) color reproduction.
Additionally, based on his expertise in device and process fields including amorphous silicon (a-Si), low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS), and oxide semiconductor (Oxide) TFTs, he played a key role in research and development of new technologies and products across various display areas from small to large sizes.
