Video Sent by Fubao to Korea: "Carrots Are Delicious"
"Well Adapted Locally" Latest Video Released
The China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center released the latest video on the 11th through its official SNS, stating that "Fubao is adapting well locally."
In the 2-minute and 41-second video, Fubao is happily eating carrots and bamboo shoots.
This video was released later than expected. Previously, the panda center had been releasing Fubao's latest videos at weekly intervals, but no video was released on the 8th, causing some fans to express dissatisfaction. The panda center had released videos titled "Fubao's Quarantine Diary 1" on the 10th of last month, followed by parts 2 and 3 with the same title on the 17th and 24th of the same month.

Fubao has passed the one-month quarantine procedure. However, it is expected that more time will be needed before public viewing. The panda center explained, "Overall, Fubao's adaptation is stable," adding, "He has basically adapted to the environment, food, and caretakers of his hometown." They continued, "In the first few days after arrival, Fubao moved quickly and did not respond to voices, but now he is in a stable state and somewhat responds to voices," and "He did not eat bamboo shoots well at first but now eats them well," emphasizing that "this is evidence of gradual adaptation to the environment."

They also evaluated Fubao's personality as outgoing, cheerful, and optimistic, noting that his adaptability is relatively good. However, they added, "Although Fubao has completed quarantine, it cannot be said that he is fully adapted, and additional adaptation is necessary," explaining, "He needs to adapt to various foods, sounds, and smells from other individuals, and a transitional period is required."

Fans left comments such as "Please show us Fubao's recent appearance," "Why aren't you showing Fubao after quarantine is over!", "I hope Fubao is doing well," and "I'm curious about Fubao's news, please upload a video." When the video was released that day, fans responded with "Seeing him doing well is reassuring."
Usually, pandas returning from overseas undergo a quarantine period of at least one month.
If they adapt well locally, they are shown to visitors, but if they do not adapt well, the non-public period is extended. Xiang Xiang, a panda born in Japan who returned to China before Fubao, was publicly shown after about an eight-month adaptation period.
Fubao was born on July 20, 2020, between Lubao and Aibao, pandas sent by Chinese President Xi Jinping in March 2016 as a symbol of Korea-China friendship promotion. As the first giant panda born in Korea, Fubao returned to China last month on the 3rd, 1,354 days after birth.
