CJ CheilJedang Sells 'Bibigo' Frozen Gimbap at Australia's Largest Supermarket Chain
Local Largest Supermarket 'Woolworths' Sold in Over 1,000 Stores
CJ CheilJedang announced on the 12th that it has launched new products, including Bibigo frozen gimbap, at Woolworths, Australia's largest supermarket chain. This is the first time Korean-style gimbap is being sold through a major distribution channel in Australia.
The products introduced are two types of Bibigo gimbap?tuna mayo gimbap and bulgogi gimbap?that were first launched in Japan and, buoyed by their popularity there, have now been released in Australia. The company noted that the bulgogi gimbap uses plant-based ingredients instead of meat to align with Australian consumer trends.
These products are available to consumers at over 1,000 Woolworths stores across Australia. Woolworths is the leading supermarket chain locally and has been selling six types of Bibigo dumplings since last year. Following the dumplings, CJ CheilJedang expects that launching gimbap at Woolworths will further enhance the local awareness and consumer experience of Bibigo K-Food.
CJ CheilJedang plans to accelerate its business expansion in Australia by promoting 'Bibigo K-Food strategic products' such as gimbap. The company is focusing on entering local mainstream distribution channels and securing local production facilities.
