Citizens Gathered at Gwanghwamun Despite Gale... 'Veto Rejection Rally Held'
A 'Veto Rejection Rally' was held in Gwanghwamun.
Hosted by civic groups including the National People's Action, the 'Yoon Seok-yeol Administration 2 Years, Veto Rejection Rally' took place at 3 p.m. on the 11th in front of Gwanghwamun Station in Jongno-gu, Seoul. About 100 citizens participated that day.
They condemned the Yoon Seok-yeol government, which recently hinted at exercising veto power (reconsideration request right) on the special prosecutor law for Chae Sang-byeong, shouting, "We reject the veto, the one who vetoes is the culprit."
Over the past two years, President Yoon Seok-yeol has exercised veto power on nine bills, including the Itaewon Disaster Special Act passed by the National Assembly. The organizers stated, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration's 'veto governance' will continue for the next three years," and added, "The people intend to respond with more active rejection beyond just voting."
Through a resolution, the organizers evaluated, "President Yoon Seok-yeol's 2nd anniversary press conference ended as self-praise for two years of state affairs," and "It was a press conference where the disappointment of the past two years turned into despair for the remaining three years."
