Bribery for 'Investigation Suppression Request'... Active Police Officer Arrested and Indicted
An active-duty police officer who received bribes along with a request to cover up an investigation has been brought to trial.
The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office Joint Investigation Team on Financial and Securities Crimes (Chief Prosecutor Ha Dong-woo) announced on the 10th that Kwon, a sergeant affiliated with the Seocho Police Station in Seoul, was arrested and indicted on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (bribery), among other charges.
According to the prosecution, Sergeant Kwon was indicted on charges of accepting 33.21 million won from a representative of listed company A, along with a request to provide convenience regarding an investigation handled by another police officer. It was investigated that Sergeant Kwon received 30.21 million won in six installments from May to December last year under this pretext, and an additional 3 million won in February this year.
