Daegu Pet & Cat Show Opens at EXCO... International Dog Show and Grooming Contest Draw Attention
The 21st Daegu Pet & Cat Show, the largest pet festival in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, is being held at EXCO on the 10th.
Marking its 21st edition, this event has seen an increase in participation from cat-related companies, leading to the event name being changed to ‘Daegu Pet & Cat Show.’ The scale of the event has also expanded, showcasing a wide variety of products from 170 companies with 350 booths related to dogs and cats, making it the largest ever.
At this exhibition, the Korea Pet Food Association will hold a sports day, charity auction, and pet etiquette education. EXCO will host a pet playground experience, adoption education video viewing at the ‘Animal Love Learning Center,’ the Korea Kennel Federation’s international dog show, grooming competitions, and beginner dog grooming classes. These programs aim to provide diverse information and entertainment to local pet owners and contribute to the spread of proper pet culture.
The Daegu Veterinary Association, co-hosting this event, will operate a pet health check-up booth and a shelter animal adoption promotion booth for visitors on the 11th and 12th. A talk show addressing visitors’ questions about pets will also be held on-site. The panel includes Director Park Soon-seok (Park Soon-seok Animal Medical Center), who appeared on ‘TV Animal Farm,’ Director Oh Won-seok (Oh Won-seok Hwanggeum Animal Hospital), Chairman Park Jun-seo (Daegu Veterinary Association), and Director Park Young-tak (Dunam Animal Hospital).
The KCMC Cultural Center, led by Professor Lee Woong-jong (Yeonam University), will conduct a temperament test for dogs at the Pet & Cat Festa venue inside the exhibition hall on the 10th. Dogs that pass all 12 stages will be awarded a certificate of completion.
The main exhibition items include pet food, snacks, supplies, and services, as well as the latest trend items such as raw food and training-linked applications. ‘Podong’ introduces a service that identifies a dog’s temperament through its self-developed app using DBTI and connects trainers and veterinarians, offering tailored care methods suited to the dog’s personality.
Also, as the event name has changed to ‘Pet & Cat Show,’ cat products have become more abundant. Cat snack brands such as ‘Jogong,’ ‘JuaPet,’ and ‘Dr. Moon,’ along with cat-related companies and organizations like ‘Catral Park,’ ‘RGU,’ ‘Modeun Pet,’ and ‘Petdia’ are participating on-site.
